Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and RCP Singh on Wednesday resigned from the Union Cupboard, a day earlier than the completion of their Rajya Sabha time period. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised their contributions throughout their ministerial tenure.
President Ram Nath Kovind accepted their resignations and reassigned the Minority Affairs and Metal portfolios, which had been held by Mr Naqvi and Mr Singh respectively.
Ladies and Youngster Improvement Minister Smriti Irani has been given the extra cost of the Ministry of Minority Affairs whereas Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been given the extra cost of the Ministry of Metal.
With Mr Naqvi resigning on Wednesday and his Rajya Sabha time period ending a day later, there might be no Muslim face within the Union Council of Ministers and among the many BJP’s 395 Members of Parliament.
R C P Singh, a former bureaucrat and JD(U) chief, resigned on his birthday, one 12 months after becoming a member of the Union Cupboard from his social gathering’s quota.
